Hi Sam! Here's a review of the past lesson (March 26) and what to practice for the next lesson...

What we covered:

Below are some of the things we discussed:

1) Theory/Glossary:
  • Fakebook, Lead Sheet, Head, Chorus, Form, Modes (e.g., Dorian)

What to practice:

1) Technique:
  • Rest as much as you play!
  • Expanding Long Tones, Expanding Chromatics, Slurs, Tongueing - Daily
  • Scales: we'll use a checklist at next lesson to check off memorized scales at different tempos
2) Method (Arbans, Rubank):
  • None this week.
3) Repertoire/Composition:
  • Play along with So What at the 2 different tempos
4) Listening:
  • Listen to "Namely You" and fill out the Jazz Listening Worksheet.
5) Internet:
  • Trumpet Game: write down your high score on your lesson sheet (found at the bottom of your Games Page)
