COMPOSER SPOTLIGHT - The Back Story
Baroque, Classical, Romantic Jazz

While in our local music store in Fostoria, Ohio in my younger days, I discovered a collection of little statuettes of 18 of the greatest "classical" composers. I didn't get them all at once, but little by little.
I had great teachers growing up and came to really enjoy and appreciate "classical music". I also enjoyed little projects, so I made a little "stand" out of cardboard to hold each statuette, one at a time.
Next, using a typewriter, I typed up a list of the 18 composers and taped it to the back, including their names and their birthdates. When it came time for one of their birthdays, the idea was to place the
statuette in the circle and listen to some of their music that day. :)
Now you can do the same! I have coded the top of my home page to add the link automatically when a composer's birthday comes up. I've added more to the list, including several jazz composers as well.
Below is a list of the "original 18" composers, sorted by their birthdate, and another sorted by time period...happy listening!
