Hi John! Here's a review of the past lesson (January 20) and what to practice for the next lesson...

What we covered:

Below are some of the things we discussed:

1) Theory/Glossary:

  • Crunch chord - a chord voicing using a half-step "crunch" combination somewhere within the voicing.
  • Modes of Music - Ionian, Locrian, Phrygian, Lydian, Mixolydian, Aeolian, Locrian.


What to practice:

  • Voicing 1's, with metronome, =120 (when comfortable, cut in half and hear on 2+4). Use this method:
    L.H. R.H.
    1. Whole-notes, root Voicing 1
    2. Voicing 1's (Nothing)
    3. Voicing 1's (Add the single note)
  • Also, determine if each mode of music is more a "Major mode" or a "minor mode."
